Tribal Group: Expert Technological Assistance for the Education Sector

Ian Bowles,CEO, tribal groupIan Bowles, CEO

The education sector has been in a state of evolution owing to the advent of newer forms of technological assistance that are capable of empowering their operational methodologies. Penetrating deep into the technological needs of the education industry, experts across the globe are coming up with new ideas and approaches for an overall enhancement of the sector. Expert assistance there fore plays a major role in nurturing and developing the technical aspects of the education sector. Tribal Group (LON:TBR) is one such organization that is working to empower the education industry. The brainchild of Henry Pitman, his primary idea was to create a product and services company that would help businesses come together for supporting and improving public services. “The name ‘Tribal’ was given to show the togetherness of different businesses into one ‘tribe’ and Pitman’s love for Africa,” explains Ian Bowles, CEO, Tribal Group.

Headquartered in Bristol, UK, the company focuses on the education market across the globe. Being a world-class technical assistant to the education sector; Tribal provides expertise, software and services that enable its customers to underpin student success. “We deliver market-leading Student Information Systems that are complemented by two specialist divisions,” adds Ian. QAS offers a broad range of quality assurance, peer review, bench marking and improvement services; andi-graduate provides the leading global benchmarks for student experience. One of Tribal’s major products is SITS:Vision which is a Student Management System for Higher Education that helps manage the student administrative processes, starting from initial enquiry to graduation and alumni. It allows its customers to recruit, retain and deliver the best student experience for world-class graduates.

Tribal also possesses other management systems for supporting the lifelong learning journey, including ebs for colleges, Tribal Campus for international colleges, Maytas for Training Providers and employers and School Edge for schools.

Tribal’s approach is to work with schools, colleges and universities for understanding their specific problems and over come those effectively. The company has a strong educational services business especially the Quality Assurance Services and a widespread global benchmark for student experience. Both of these businesses give a great insight into the overall educational trends and support its customers in transforming their teaching and learning provision along with guiding them for improvement. The company gradually grew through acquisition and organic growth, especially in the education sector. In 2015, Tribal earned revenues of over £100m and presently possesses a market leading position in the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The company is also growing in the APAC region by providing services to a wide range of customers in Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand etc.

“Our customers include more than 600 higher education organisations, several hundred further/tertiary education and vocational institutions, thousands of schools, Government and State bodies, training providers and employers,” Ian elaborates further. Keeping pace in this competitive market, Tribal is looking to develop functionality that can easily be adopted by its present and prospective customers and help them build a student information ecosystem. While being a cloud-first technology base, for ease of deployment, lower costs and faster route to delivery, Tribal will continue to support on-premise requirements. The company will combine its new offerings and those of third party partners, to offer its customers the best Student Information solutions.
